One of the things I wanted to achieve by then was six blog posts. At an average of one a fortnight I thought this was more than doable. However, as we approach the tail end of February, I find I have completed just one. I’m not sure what my barrier is. In an attempt to overcome it, I will briefly write up a trivial incident that has been on my mind for a while.
Years ago I found a book in a charity shop called Holly’s Inbox. It was written in email form, easy to read and highly entertaining. In case it needs saying following my last post, I do not think all chick lit is the work of Satan.
Sometime after reading it I discovered there was a sequel. Sadly, my local library service did not yield on this particular occasion so I ventured into the realms of online retail to locate a cheap, second-hand copy. I paid my pennies and a few days later this showed up:
I immediately jumped to the conclusion that I had been sent the wrong item and began mentally composing a strongly worded email to the seller. As I removed the elastic band the rigid green fabric fell away and I kicked myself for making such a schoolgirl error.
I had judged the book by its cover.
Having finished the novel, I now have to decide where it goes next. I don’t feel I can send it on its way without its new cosy old jacket. Keeping them together seems the right thing to do. Plus, if I disguise it, there is the chance for someone else to learn the same, humbling lesson I did.
